So. This is how it all begins. The Grand Adventure as I will probably refer to it in 20 years. What better way to celebrate Canada Day than to embark on a Cross Canada Camping adventure? Travelling from the beautiful city of Vancouver British Columbia to the … city of Ottawa Ontario. A cross-country camping trip, just me, my man, my toddler and my baby.
Yes you read that last sentence right. Not only am I travelling across the country with the man I love, spending 2 weeks (or so) in a tent come rain or shine or shitstorm. I will be doing it with a toddler and an infant, just for kicks!
I must mention that “camping” isn’t my thing. I am not one of those gals that pulls up her wool socks and treks out into the bush to dig her own potty hole . I am more of the opposite nature. I don’t even want to think about the creepy critters crawling about under my tent. I need to wear a toque to cover my ears as soon as the sun sets because i can’t stand the sound mosquito’s make when they buzz next to my ears. Oh yes, it will be fun travelling with me and my two daughter on this trip! Handsome has no idea how lucky he is.
I also have absolutely no idea what will be in store for us once we get there. We are not just camping for the hell of camping. This is a move. Just like in the times of the old west. Family in the wagon, heading out west for more land, more opportunity. Kind of the same only in reverse. We know that though Vancouver is beautiful, everyone else has discovered that fact too. The Olympics were a huge commercial for this city. ”Look! the only damn city in Canada where it doesn’t snow. See! Canada isn’t a land of igloo’s and polar bears!” I guess i am just bitter that the houses are so expensive here and I will never own anything, because everything costs over $700k… but enough about that! We head East for opportunity and family aswell. A city where my little girls can grow up knowing their Nanna and Pappa, their Uncles and Aunties and their Cousins.
This scares the crap out of me! What will we do when we get there, and how long can we sleep in handsome’s Parents basement?

[...] I think we need to make another run or two at it. At least we didn’t make these mistakes while on the big trip. [...]
